Dear invokepost,

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a blessed Ramadhan. This month Muslims around the world would take a pause and reflect on their daily practices. It also serves as a reminder of the concepts of Islam such as upholding social justice, fairness and truth-seeking.

With that in mind, INVOKE plans to maintain its volunteer practices throughout the month of Ramadhan – with some times changed to respect break fasting hours. We believe that if we put our activities to a halt now, it will only allow the powers-that-be to undermine the work that we have put in and this can further shake our focus to defeat them in the elections to come. So we must keep moving.

Our team have been working hard in mobilizing voting registration counters, conducting PACA training and many more.

What happened last week?

Last Tuesday, our INVOKE team in Padang Rengas conducted their regular PACA training headed by Cikgu Ejazi. PACA training enables regular citizens to become polling and counting agents during election day. We are so happy they attracted this many people – even on a Tuesday! Thanks so much Cikgu Ejazi and team.
The next day, the Sembrong team together with Keadilan managed to clean up the Muslim cemetary in Kampung Sri Lukut. We thank them for all their hard work.
And on Sunday, the Kapar team set up a registration counter near their area. They ensured that the local community were able to register and check their voter status. Look out for a registration booth near you!

What’s happening this week?

In accordance with Ramadhan, we are starting our Hidupkan Ramadhan: Program Rumah ke Rumah. This is a program in light of giving basic necessities to the most unfortunate. All you need to do is donate a minimum of RM60 that cover those necessities and we will be all set!

The target of collection will be RM50,000 in total and it will be divided to around 800 families across the country. Every ringgit counts to making this Ramadhan a special one for a family in need.

Donations can be made through: http://bit.ly/HidupkanRamadhan.

Disclaimer: The display of Mobile88 Sdn Bhd as a ‘Merchant Name’ is a part of the payment process and not an irregular occurrence. Please proceed with payment.

We still need volunteers all throughout this month! This Ramadhan should not be seen as an obstacle for you to not participate in volunteerism. As a matter of fact, it should provide you with an opportunity to do your deed that extends beyond daily practices.

If you have signed up before but have not received notifications on activities near your area, please head on to http://volunteer.invokemalaysia.org/users/confirmation/new , open your email and answer all of our questions. If you have not signed up before, please head to http://bit.ly/JomJoinINVOKE.

I hope to see you at one of our activities soon and I hope you have a blessed Ramadhan.

Rafizi Ramli
INVOKE Volunteer #00001
